An overview of our web development process, from research to site launch.
Expect many questions. This is the time we sit down with the client to assess what elements exist, what the goals are and who the target audience is. We conduct in-depth interviews with various stakeholders to get a clear overview.
Once finished with the research the client receives a strategy report with recommendations, a brief that defines the project concisely, and the definition of the personas. Establishing personas helps making objective design decisions.
PHASE 1 — Research
Existing site architecture and visuals
CMS, server, device preferences, developer requirements, analytics data
Audit of competitive field
Includes site experiences and
Extensive interviews with marketing,
sales and creative team
Short and longterm goals
We present multiple web concepts for each project. After the initial presentation, we start fine tuning a chosen direction and implement client feedback in 2 to 3 rounds. We design with functionality in mind, creating a solid framework and its complementary visuals.
From coffee, to drones, to lighting we are able to adapt to different industries. Shown below are a range of websites. Most of them were coded by Un-, some by the client's in-house development team.
PHASE 2 — Design
Paradise Coffee Roasters
The Paradise Coffee Roasters website is fully hosted on Shopify to ensure a seamless 1-step access of the shop, blog and editorial pages.
For Lucy Activewear's lifestyle blog we built an Instagram feed into the site. It helps the client to connect to their audience. The site is developed with Wordpress.
A Brand Portal
Archetype Lighting's website
acts as a portal to the brands they represent. Each lighting brand has its own gallery page,
complete with detailed specs.
A Quick Launch
Ghost Drone needed a quick 1-page microsite to get people excited about their products.
We delivered a fully custom site within 2 weeks.
Working With Guides
For larger companies style guides are essential to maintain a cohesive brand system. We embrace adapting to given guidelines and working with them.
We have worked with an experienced, well-versed Wordpress developer for the past 5+ years. The majority of our sites are built with Wordpress.
Big Island Coffee Roasters
Our designs are shown to the client via digital mockups so that the client gets a good understanding of the user experience.
PHASE 3 — Coding
Once the design has been finalized, we begin the coding phase. We spec files for development and ensure all elements are working from mobile to desktop. This process includes testing, and correcting any technical issues, plus populating the site with content.
PHASE 4 — Test / Launch
After a final phase, the site launch gets carefully synchronized with the web team, domain registrar and the client's marketing activities to ensure a smooth transition and to minimize downtime.
